The hubby

Bryan commented that he wasn't featured enough on my blog. I told him to get his own. That being said, here are some fun pics of us:

New Phone

Yay! I got a new phone! Due to my horrible texting habits, I finally broke down and bought a "made for texting" phone. I swear sometimes I'm just as bad as my students...

And in baby news, we're doing just peachy. I have an appointment next Wednesday for yet another ultrasound (fun!), so stay tuned for pictures.

Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces, and he measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a mango. His arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of his body now. His kidneys continue to make urine, and the hair on his scalp is sprouting. This is a crucial time for sensory development: Your baby's brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. If your baby is a girl, she has an astonishing 6 million eggs in her ovaries. They'll dwindle to fewer than two million by the time she's born.

Crappy day

So Bryan and I spent 6 hours in the ER tonight. We were at the pool, and when I went to go to the bathroom, I felt a sharp, shooting pain in my upper back.

After hours waiting, I finally got an ultrasound to make sure the babies were alright, and to see if I had kidney stones. The u/s tech was wonderful, both babies are doing absolutely fine. She spent several minutes taking pics of my left kidney, and noted that there seemed to be a small stone.

HOWEVER, since this was not our normal good hospital, and it was a Sunday on a holiday weekend – they had to email the pics to another hospital for someone in radiology to view. The verdict came in that I do NOT have a kidney stone, but “probably” a UTI. They gave me Macrobid and sent me home.

So, I'll be calling my normal wonderful doctor tomorrow just to confirm that everything is fine.

FINALLY decided on furniture!

Well, after a long time searching, I had settled on a nice set from Jardine Enterprises at Babies R Us. However, 42% of ALL cribs at BRU are "stop sale" - meaning most likely recalled. And wouldn't you know ours is one of them!

So after hours of searching online and in stores, I think we've settled on this set. The crib is the Dorel 4-n-1, and the dresser, hutch and glider are made by Storkcraft.

Last night was our 8th grade dance. It was from 6-8, and I got to sit with Bryan the whole time serving water. I can not tell you how tired I was after! I went promptly home, projectile vomited, and passed out until I got sick again. I really did NOT want to go to work today!

Today was 8th grade field day. I have to say, it went surprisingly well. My class is not one of the best, but they were really good. Even my biggest trouble maker asked how I was doing several times, and brought me a bottle of water. We spent the morning doing our awards ceremony, and then outside during the afternoon playing games. While I did sit on the ground the entire time, except walking to each station, I was almost in tears because of back pain when we went back in. One of my students was thoughtful enough to go to the nurse for ice, and another brought me water.

The kiddos went to their annual intramural basketball game, and I laid in my floor with the lights off icing my back for 30 minutes. I am seriously glad I only have 6 more days of school left! Though I really don't know if I will be up to going back in August. I have a feeling bed rest is soon heading my way. I'm too small to be carrying around so many pounds of baby, amniotic fluid and placenta.

18 weeks!

Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

All I need now is a steak to go with my potatoes! And in super awesome news, DAVID COOK is the new American Idol! Bryan and I have been rooting for him since day one.

Go one with your bad self

So I got totally creative today and made a Bingo game for the baby shower. My mom was going to buy a set for $15, but I knew I could make cuter ones for about $5. They match the graphics on the invitations that were ordered.

Also, I made two of the cutest quilted binkies for two of my pregnant coworkers. I'll be sure to post pictures once I've finished with the bindings.

Here is the proof of the invitations. How cute are these! They are from

We have a kicker!

Today, I met up with my friend Lauren for lunch and some shopping. Afterwards, I went over to my parents' house. While I was resting on the couch, I noticed Baby A was kicking away. For the first time, I knew it wasn't gas, hunger grumbles - but baby. The neatest thing was my Mom could feel her, too. I'm just waiting for the two of them to kick me night and day.

I've finally cleaned out the guest bedroom, now nursery. I'll steam clean the carpets next weekend, and probably paint. We already have so much to put in there! Almost a full closet of clothes, a Pack n Play, two car seats, and toys. Hopefully we'll get some furniture in there so we can start organizing soon.

And I couldn't resist two cute dresses! Also, you'll see the chicken/duck that my Grandma Jones bought the girls (one for each). Right now, the cats are in love with him.

Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints.

Why are they comparing my babies to ONIONS?

So, I realize I've not taken a picture of me actually pregnant and looking cute. Sure, I have a few of my belly pics, but I've cut my head out since I usually take them in the morning. I'll work on that this weekend. I've posted my 6 week and 15 week pictures below.
Bryan and I plan on cleaning out the guest bedroom for the nursery. Hopefully we'll even get around to painting it (Palmetto Green). And in other non-baby news, my cousin Nicole is graduating high school this year! I hope she likes the gift I've picked out!

Yay! My mom booked the venue for our baby shower on June 28! We'll be having high tea at the English Country Tea Rooms. The yummy food includes scones, tea sandwiches, pasties, and cakes - along with several types of tea. I'm awaiting the invitation samples from Peekaboopumpkin, so when they come we'll be ready to order.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! Bryan cleaned the kitchen, living & dining rooms, and took me out to lunch & dinner. He also made my mom a really neat flower pot hanger, with four terra cotta pots and beautiful purple flowers. My mom got me the sweetest pink/green/brown quilt that has sayings about mothers. It really will match our bedding set (pic below) that we've picked out for the girls. I also ordered our car seats today - they are too cute!!

I also got a new hair do (will post pics soon) and a few new maternity clothing pieces for work, as most everything I own is getting to tight.

And here is a picture of 16 week fraternal twins (what ours are most likely).

Baby Shower

So, my mom is planning the baby shower for the end of June/beginning of July. She asked me to find some really cute invitations (making sure I liked them). So, I've picked out my top three, which do you prefer?

Mother Knows Best

I must have ESP or something. I KNEW there were twins in my belly at 5 weeks - and demanded an early ultrasound. I KNEW that my sweet babies were both girls, and I was totally RIGHT! Here are a few pics from the ultrasound yesterday. Both babies are measuring ahead of schedule (4.5" long, as opposed to 3.5" and 4oz instead of 3.5oz). Yay for my tall, skinny babies! And here is the aftermath of the shopping trip my mom & I took!

Watch what you say... tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean the little one can now pick up your voice. Eyebrows, lashes and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming. And, if you're interested, an ultrasound might be able to determine gender.

We go in tomorrow for our growth ultrasound, and CROSS YOUR FINGERS that they are able to determine the gender. If all goes well, my mom & I plan on tearing up Babies R Us!!
