Seriously, though - I do get stopped a lot. So much so that I thought about adding a tip jar to my stroller. I usually try to smile and nod, and hint that "I have two babies and a schedule to maintain". But I've definitely had my share of intrusive people and questions.
Do you usually have to tend to one of the girls more than the other?
Honestly, they flip flop during the day. I will say that I do spend more time doing Audrey's physical therapy for her neck, and having to bathe her every night (as opposed to every other night). But I make it up to Natalie by picking her up and playing with her after finishing with Audrey.
What's your daily routine with the girls? Do you usually start it with the same daughter?
Here is a typical day:
7:00am - wake for the day. Change diaper, feed both in their boppy pillows. We play a few games or they jump in their jumperoo/exersaucer
8:30am - solid food breakfast - usually fruit mixed with cereal. This morning we had blueberry waffles though!
9:30am - 11:30am - long nap
11:30am - wake up, change into cute outfits if we haven't already, bottle
Then in the afternoon, we usually go on a walk, out to lunch, or on a play date.
12:30pm - solid food lunch
2:30pm - shorter nap, about an hour long
3:30pm - bottle
We spend the early part of the evening playing even more
5:30pm - solid food dinner, usually two veggies
6:00pm - Audrey takes her helmet off, I bathe Natalie first if it is her night, and then Audrey.
6:45pm - bedtime bottle and story
7:00pm - bed!
Audrey still wakes up around 11:00pm and 2:00am for another bottle
How hard is it financially to be taking care of them alone and just paying bills etc.?
I've been very fortunate to qualify for a government program regarding my mortgage, so that has helped immensely. I've also created a pretty strict budget and have done a fairly good job sticking to it. Almost nothing the girls wear was purchased at full priced. In fact, the majority of their clothing was purchased while I was still pregnant at the end of a season. They seriously have many, many outfits that were under $3.00 each. And, if all else fails, my parents would never let the girls or myself do without. I don't know how we would have survived the past two months without them.
Are you worried about Audrey's inability to sleep through the night? Have you tried different methods?
I've read several books (Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, and all about Ferber) - but am not yet comfortable enough to try them out. Audrey weighs a full pound less than Natalie, and she wakes up hungry. So I feed her. Now if she starts waking just to wake, then I might try some sleep training methods. But I'm a wimp when it comes to hearing my children cry, so probably not :)
I thought you were going to move to Wordpress and have a private blog. Did I miss something? Sorry if that's too nosy. :)
Well, I did start a Wordpress blog. But I wasn't a fan of their format, and I didn't like that I couldn't customize my blog. I also lost a lot of my readers (and even family, ahem - MOM) who didn't sign up to follow. And if any of you are familiar with my pregnancy story, then you know it was another person's story that helped me save my babies when we were told all hope was lost. So if my story helps just one person, then I'm happy.
I'll do a Part Three if I get any more comments here!!!

wow you really are super mom! I asked a question in the last post but I will ask here ...
ReplyDeleteI did a scrapblog page and would like it to be my header on my blog but I don't know how to do that.
Can you help?
Change the 'story' but I feel the same way...
ReplyDelete"it was another person's story that helped me save my babies when we were told all hope was lost. So if my story helps just one person, then I'm happy."
don't you just LOVE having twin girls!!!
britt
I think you are amazingly strong woman and a great mom.
ReplyDeleteWhen did you start feeding three meals a day? We are doing two meals a day and she is almost 8mo. I'm starting to feel like I am way behind.
Your an amazing women! I love reading about the girls:) I found you through another blog, I'm fairly new to your story. How long does Audrey have to wear her helmet?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your story with us!
Do twins run in your family? Or were you totoally suprised? I don't know how you do it with two.
ReplyDeleteHow do you stay so organized?
ReplyDeleteDo you make your own food or buy jars? What brand? Also, how much do the girls drink in their various bottles?
ReplyDeleteWe have VERY similar schedules EXCEPT that Jax gets up before 5am and Brady before 6am. They take 3 - 1hr naps. I WISH I could get them to lump the second and third together!
ReplyDeleteBut I thought our schedules were erie-creepy-similar!
I noticed that your profile said not too long ago you are a newly single mom (or something along those lines). I'm a fairly new reader and have been curious about what happened to your relationship.
ReplyDeleteI apologize if that's too personal of a question, but I thought you might be willing to talk about what happened (if you already have, again, my apologies!).
The one thing nobody told me, or that any of the books said, was how much of a strain having a new baby can put on your relationship ... sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one who's experiencing this.
Jen - how do I put my scrapblog page on my blog as the header?
ReplyDeleteCongradulations Auntie Jen on baby Lily.
Love to you all -
I know I'm a bit late on the questions (newborn twins can do that to you!!), but I wanted to ask if you can elaborate on this please:
ReplyDelete"Almost nothing the girls wear was purchased at full priced. In fact, the majority of their clothing was purchased while I was still pregnant at the end of a season. They seriously have many, many outfits that were under $3.00 each."
How did you get their cute clothes so cheap?? My girls are 10 weeks old, and buying clothes for them has been rather expensive! I'd love to see you expand on how to get good clothes for less. Thanks!
