More Birthday Planning

So I've finally decided on a "theme" for the girls' first birthday. I went back and forth with several different ones (like Tea Party - but I'll use that when they are older), and finally decided on one with Lions. At first I thought it was too circus-y, but I'm going to tone it down by using pastel colors instead of primary.

Here are the dresses the girls will wear (purchased from Designs by Jane in Charleston - my favorite place to get smocked clothing for the girls. Check out the clearance section for great prices):

Here is an idea for the main birthday cake. I still intend on making it myself. I'm not a huge fan of fondant, so I'll make the cake a smooth pale pink butter cream (almost like my wedding cake), and decorate it with polka dots. I'll make the little lion and the #1 to put on, along with pastel color stars.

Here is an idea for the girls' smash cakes. Again, I'll decorate with fondant, but cover the cake in butter cream.

Now I just need to find cute pink lion invitations - anyone good at custom designing??

  1. I do custom invites, but I don't have any of my custom work on my website sadly. So that probably isn't much help. Love the lion idea, we're going with a monkey theme.

Do you a simple recipe for cakes? I want to make my girls cake or maybe will practice with my own birthday cake for next week.

    Hope you could help me.

    Have a great weekend.
