New Beds

Getting Audrey a new bed has been on my to do list for quite some time. Earlier this year, I painted her room a really pretty purple color. However, she was simply in her crib converted into a toddler bed. And my child sleeps CRAZY. In fact, I've had a twin size mattress next to her bed for months, because she often rolls out of bed. So my goal was to find a twin size bed that she wouldn't roll out of.

I ended up buying this bunk bed set from Walmart. First of all, the price was right at under $300 for the bunks & mattresses. But my favorite part is that the beds come apart and turn into two twin sized beds. And see that top bunk? I'm hoping that with a one foot hole, Audrey won't be able to fall out of her bed any more. I'll be putting the second bed in Natalie's room - and will buy a third single twin bed for Emma. Eventually I'm sure we'll bunk them, but for now - we'll keep them apart.

And what's a new bed without cute new bedding? I'm in love with this set!

I have been so slack on posting - sorry. Things have been crazy here trying to organize after Hurricane Christmas. Not only am I focusing on cleaning out toys to donate, and putting away new toys - but I'm trying to make room for three twin sized beds that we're going to buy in the next week or so. Oh, and I also made a trip to the mall for myself. I know, that's crazy talk, but I had to buy some clothes that actually fit for when I go back to work on Monday.

Anyway, I'm a bit behind, so here's pictures of our Christmas at Eddie's parents' house.

We did things a little bit differently this year - Santa came this morning, instead of the 25th. The girls will leave tomorrow morning at 9:30 to celebrate Christmas with their dad's family. Seeing that they usually get up around 9, it didn't make any sense to rush them to open Santa gifts and shoo them out the door. Plus, they can't exactly read calendars just yet :) So Santa made his way to our house last night - and the girls were super excited to open their gifts.

Later today, we went to North Carolina to do our annual Christmas Eve party with my family. The girls had so much fun opening presents - and handing out presents to everyone else.

All in all, they'll have 5 Christmases this year (Eddie's parents, Santa, my Grandma, Dad's family & my parents). We get Emma for the week tomorrow at 2, so we have yet another party to attend, and presents to open with her. Let's just say we'll be pretty busy for the next few days! I hope everyone out there is able to enjoy this holiday season.

(This is just a few days late - but I have an excuse...or 4!)

Corbin left the hospital at 5 lbs 4 oz, and yesterday at his one month appointment was a whopping 8 lbs 2.5 oz! He has also gone from 18.5" long to 20" long. He sure is a growing boy! Right now, Corbin eats around 4 oz every 3-4 hours. He has a wakeful time in the early afternoon, and then once again around 11:30 at night (oh yeah, it's fun times). For instance, he was up last night from midnight until 3:30 in the morning. And to think - I go back to work in a week!

No More Yogurt

Yesterday, the girls played hookie from school. They stayed up partying Sunday night (as in, sneaking to each others' rooms way past bedtime, giggling, and playing with toys), and slept in late. Then, my dad came over to see them, and my co-worker and her daughters wanted to come play. Now, I usually get my shower in the morning after I've dropped them off at school. They were playing nicely in the living room, so I decided to try and sneak a shower in. I set them up with milk, snacks, and a Christmas movie on TV. I took Corbin with me in his Rock n Play to the bathroom - and took a whopping 5 minute shower.

I came out of the bathroom and heard giggling and flushing. I walked into the hall bathroom, and saw them unrolling the toilet paper into the toilet. I put both girls into time out and reminded that we only use the toilet for going to the bathroom and nothing else. I went in to flush and plunge, and finally got the toilet working.

Or so I thought.

Hours later, we realized that the toilet wasn't really flushing. And that's when the girls decided to fess up that they put a red cup in the toilet. Thankfully, Eddie & his dad were able to pull the toilet up off the floor, and find the red cup.

And of course, Natalie sees the removed toilet and shouts "Eddie, you broked my toilet! And Papa, too!".

The men put the toilet back together, flushed, and still nothing was happening.

And that's when Audrey said "Where's MY red cup?".

So up came the toilet again, and yet another red cup was fished out.

So - we're no longer giving the girls yogurt in little red cups!

Twinkle Lights

I'm sure y'all have seen a plethora of twinkle light pictures this year - apparently, it was the thing to do. Obviously, I jumped on that bandwagon. However, my children are not dressed in their holiday finery because they were in good moods and I didn't want to risk WWIII by having them change.

It was a Christmas miracle that I got a picture of BOTH girls, looking at me, sitting still & smiling. I may have bribed with candy & a promise to send Santa this picture.

Stocking Stuffer

Dudes, taking newborn photos is not easy. First, they spit up. Second, little man barely fit inside his stocking due to his little pot belly. Third, I can't for the life of me get his skin tone to look right. I also think my 50mm lens has been dropped one too many times, and a preschooler has played with my camera settings.

But anyway, here's my little stocking stuffer!

Photo Book 2011

For the past four years, I've worked to create photo books for grandparents for Christmas (here's a post I did on preserving memories). This year was just a wee bit different - our family dynamic has changed a lot! The last three years, the books were just of the girls. This year, Emma, Corbin & Eddie all made appearances. I did create a smaller version of this book for the girls' grandma & great grandma, with just their pictures. So without any further ado - here's our 2011 family photo book!
