Back on Track

I'm done with excuses, and I want y'all to help hold me accountable.

I am a measly 10 pounds less than I was right before giving birth to Corbin. Meaning, I weigh roughly what I weighed when I gave birth to twins. And I hate it. I have no pants that fit me that aren't a double digit number, I hate what I look like in the clothes I own, and I refuse to have my picture taken (it took some serious goading and guilt tripping by my husband to take my picture at the zoo this weekend).

And I don't want to live like that any more.

So what does this mean? It means that I went outside and ran for the first time since September 2010. And if you know me, you know this is huge. I don't run unless something's chasing me. Especially not in heat, with humidity, and on hills. But I completed Week 1 Day 1 of the C25K program on my phone, and ran/walked 1.5 miles in under 20 minutes.

I'm also canceling my gym membership. Wait, what? You heard me right. I've used the excuse that Eddie isn't home in time for my classes, the girls are in bad moods, or I don't want to take the baby to the gym, or I need to cook dinner, etc, etc. I'm scouring Craigslist for a used elliptical machine, so I can run inside when it is way too hot, or too cold out. Plus, I have several apps on my Kindle Fire that are step by step workouts. I did the 10 minute ab one last night, and I feel the burn today.

And maybe I'll post before pictures - if I'm brave enough, lol.

Do any of you have weight loss goals this year? How are you doing? What are you doing?

  1. I, too, am trying to lose some weight! I have managed to lose 12 pounds but am struggling with the last 8 or so that I want to lose. I just picked back up with using the Lose It app on my iPhone so I'm hoping I can get back on track. It is so hard to lose the baby weight after a second pregnancy... At least it is for me! My goal is to lose these last 8 pounds by end of June. :o/
If I can give any advice...it's to stick with it! You can do it! It might take time to see resultS but if you stck with it the pounds will come off!
    You can do it!!!

  2. May I ask what apps you use on the Kindle? I have one and hardly have any good apps.

(love the blog BTW. I'm a fellow Dec 2011 mom) :)

  3. I had set a goal to lose 20-25lbs by the end of June, but so far my total is only about 4lbs. My big problem is that i sit at a desk all day and I really should be walking on our treadmill for about 30mins after the kids go to bed on the days that I don't go to the gym, but I end up just doing house work. I need to be strict and tell myself that if I want to catch up on my shows then I need to me ont he treadmill if I want to watch them. I too am tired of not being happy with my body and not fitting into my clothes right. If anything I will reclaim my body by the end of the year.

  5. I've got 7 pounds of baby weight to lose (I've been plateaued now for 6 weeks) and 10 pounds of IVF-treatment weight (drugs + gin). I just joined Weight Watchers last week and walk my butt off everyday. My goal is to be back in my size 6 clothes by the time I go back to work in July.

  6. I am with you. I as of last month became vegan. I eat a100% plant based diet. Just changing the way I eat I have lost 10 pounds. I have many many more to go but I have energy and I'm starting to feel great about myself.

  7. I did Jillian Michael's 30 day shred last month and am doing her Ripped in 30 this month. Her videos from start to finish last about 30 minutes and really work. I am drenched afterwards. And my little boy gets a kick out of me doing it. I like them because I do it everyday and it's a goal to get through the 30 days. They say it takes 30 days for something to become a habit. It might help you get through those first 30. Good luck!!

Best of luck to you in your journey! Stick with it...you can do it :)

  10. I haven't looked in a mirror since 2003. I have 30 lbs. to lose and I just need to lose the first 5, because then that means I have gotten into a groove, not only with exercising, but with my eating. I eat when I'm bored/happy/sad/tired/stressed out. This morning was Day 1 of Jillian's 30 Day Shred. I got up at 5:30 to get it done before kids woke up. I was so sweaty and almost threw up at one point, but survived it. Somehow. And to think that was on the beginner level. Wow, do I have a long way to go....

  11. Weight Watchers and a regular workout routine helped me lose 20 pounds. I do 30 minutes of cardio (elliptical) every day, weights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and the P90X ab ripper on Tuesdays and Thursdays. And then whatever I can manage to do on the weekends while the kids nap (that is, if I'm not napping, too).

  12. You can do it!!! My twins turned 3 in March and I have finally got in lose the "baby/toddler" weight. Myself and a friend joined Crossfit and I am totally addicted. I do suffer from mommy guilt because my kids are in daycare all day and then my husband has to watch them while I workout but I have learned a healthy happy mommy means a healthy happy family. I did Couch to 5K as well and it is great and believe me I am not a fan of running. I would suggest getting a partner and it makes it easier and way more fun!! Stick with it you can do it!!!!!

  13. I use Nike+ on my iPod to keep track of the amount of walking/running I do and then push harder each week. They have a really cool web application that motivates you along to do better and push harder.

  14. I went a year without making any progress in losing baby weight. Started using the Lose It app, cut out sweets, and running 3-5 miles 3 times a week. Lost about 16 lbs in 2 months. It's all about calories in, calories out. Who has time to go to the gym?

  15. I was amused by what you said about not normally running unless someone is chasing you. That made me laugh. That is great that you found exercise aps for the Kindle Fire. I will have to check those out. Thank you for linking up to the first Multiples Monday on Capri + 3. I hope you will link up each Monday so everyone can follow your adventures.

  16. I've give you my 2 cents. I'd love to do some stuff of my own, but after my first baby, I tried doing a bunch of sit-ups and herniated. A $20,000 repair surgery kind of keeps you from wanting to do a lot more of that. Take into account that I'm nursing and will be for a long time (and the moment I cut calories, I gain 5 lbs and I'm not kidding about that) I'm just out of luck for a while. I think you look great, weight or no weight. You barely looked like you gained anything with your pregnancies. Give yourself a HUGE break and stop beating yourself up. Ask yourself: Is it about how you look or being healthy? If the answer is: it's about being healthy, then stop with the 'double digit' part of it and focus on how you feel. Otherwise the rest of us (who still have double chins from our pregnancies, and don't have the super trim waist like you) are going to start feeling even 'fatter'. I've dropped quite a few blogs because they became whine-centers, places to brag about their 'mileage' and calories in calories out when they used to just be fun women chatting about their lives. I remember seeing plenty of 'before' pictures where the women were 5'10 and weighed 120 lbs and were complaining. When I pointed out that they were UNDERWEIGHT on bmi, it didn't go over well. Happy as hell to support you as long as you focus on the good things and don't make it a daily weigh in sort of thing that just depresses the rest of us (you know, those that weigh WAY over 120 lbs and are like 8 inches shorter) :-) Lol.

  17. I agree that Weight Watchers and exercise really do work in the losing weight journey, but WW gets pricey and I had a hard time finding point values for restaurants and stuff when we went out (even with the iPhone app). I found myfitnesspal.com and LOVE IT. I have the app on my phone and iPad (they have it for Droid as well) along with Nike+ app and working out. So far I'm 20 pounds down! Good luck in your journey.

  18. I've been having a lot of luck doing the Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge, which is 2 WW points, and 4 WW points with milk. I am down 10lbs and 16inches, 5 more lbs to go till goal weight. Good luck to you!!

  19. I recently have started doing the workouts from www.bodyrock.tv and totally love it. They post workouts every day that are totally free and normally 12 minutes long. At the end I am dripping in sweat and feel like I have accomplished more than some workouts that take an hour. The girl that does them is really energetic and motivating. They just started a new 30 day challenge if you want to give it a shot!

  20. Try going Primal also know as The Paleo Diet! It's a life style change and you won't need to work out excessivly.

Title of the book is "The Primal Blue Print"

It will change the way you think about food, dieting, and being healthy.

  21. I joined Weight Watchers in January after my son was born in November. I never lost all the weight from my daughter and I was determined to lose the weight from both pregnacies. I'm down 31 lbs. love the program, there's an app to help you track!

  22. I started my weight loss journey January 1st and im down 25lbs. I started running and I track on my fitness pal.

  23. Using the elliptical is good, but if you want more accurate running, you need to get a treadmill with at least 3HP. I DO NOT recommend any ProForm or Icon pieces though.

  24. I would definitely try swimming. It's a full body workout and it's good for your joints and bones.
